(ARTRC) AIDS Resource team of Robeson Counjy; that 1 can and do make a difference by doing presentations at schools, churches, city council meetings on awareness, educating thepublic about AIDS This in return provides me with purpose, which is gratifying in self-worth, removing feelings of selfpity Just this weekend my nincycarold daughter and a friend were playing when he said "thatjic was told. 1 had AIDS real bad." His mother afterwards spoke of being warned about me being incontact with her children, luckily, she was educated I explained to her son that AIDS is not transmitted through casual contact He acknowledged that I didn't look sick, even though 1 have been positive for eight years. But. this type of thinking is why people don't get tested, or do followup care when tested positive. In the 21 st century we will begin to sec this pandemic at its worst. b is estimated that between 300400,000 children will be left orphaned. Also there are those who continue risky behaviors putting others at risk. some intentional I would like to encourage those like myself to get active in their local organisations, there are many ways you can help even though you might choose to remain anonymous In my life 1 vision the time when the stigma of AIDS is gone, that the image of a person dying with AIDS, is replaced w ith hopcsofli\ ing That every PWA (Person with AIDS) nurture their soul, mind and body That others instill compassion and love to those who have been infected and affected It's never to late in removing the obstacles of ignorance As a nation we have to work together in eradicating AIDS. Every person li\ ing has a unique quality whether AIDS has entered their body or not We as PWA has lobe in unison with each others needs, to present ourselves from being exiled to another class of humanity. We all have the ability and skill to do well Instead of living your life in shame and isolation join me in. my Quest to educate the uneducated If you would like to volunteer.
