Ephesians 6:1-3 i y ^ y y K The Indian Honor Association of Robeson County Honors These Indian Eiders: PURPOSE The purposes tor the organization are as follows: to promote honor and respect for Indian elders by their families and communities by recognizing the elders for their family's full participation iri the electoral process of Robeson County in all primary and general elections and to encourage eligible Indian people and the public at large without regard to race, creed, sex. or national origin to register and vote in all elections ^ -J ; Our Spiritual Leaders of the Gospel i Rev. Hilton Deese (Fairmont HI Precinct) Rev. Deese has served as pastor of Macedonia Methodist Church for ten years. His special recogni- I tion and awards include a number of plaques and I letters of aprpeciation. I Rev. Varilell Sivett (South Pembroke Precinct) Rev. Swett served with the following churches: Punckhoekie Congregational Church in Kingston, NY from 1953-56; Eustside Congregational Church of Hinghampton, NY, 1956-60; HoneoyeCongregational in Honeoye, NC, 1960-70; First Congregational Church in Terryville, CT, 1970- 72. He ivus licensed to preach in 1944 and ordained in 1953. Special recognition and awards include being named MUn of the Yearfor the Town of Plymouth, 11 during their llicentenniul celebration in 1976; Certificate of Appreciation from the North Carolina Department of Corrections for service as a volunteer Chaplain 1995. Rev. Simeon F. Cummings (North Pembroke Precinct) Rev. ( ummings served at pastor at Prospect Uniteil Methodist Church from 1953-73. He was Ordained as a Deacon in 1956 and as an elder in 195H he ivus licensed to preach in 1953 and retired in 1985. He served with the NCC (inference Council on Ministries 1973-1978; Director Robeson County Cooperative ministries / 9 78-85; Interim Appointments- Director, Southeastern Jurisdiction Association for Native American Ministries- Pastorates- llranch Street and UMC Churches. He was elected Trustee Emeritus for Greensboro College; presented the Henry Berry l.owrie A ward in / 985; and recognized us Chairman of the Department of Social Services, Robeson County, 1973. He was elected as a delegate to the (leneral Conference of the United Methodist church 1976; promoted and established the Chief Junaluska Memorial Statue at Lake Junaluska, KA in 1991; and was recognized for Pastoral leadership at Sandy Plains United Methodist Church in 1985. Rev. Oscar Cummings (Lumberton U7 Precinct) Rev. Cummings urn licensed to preach in 1951. He k as served as pastor of the following churches: New. ?hiladelphus, Branch Street; Sandy Plains (Associate ?astor); and Lighthouse. He is a United Methodist. Rev. Elton B. Hunt ((la(Mys Precinct) Rev. Hunt has served as pastor at Union Chapel Holiness Methodist Church. He was licensed to preach in 1981 and ordained the same year. He serves as Superintendent of the Lumber River Holiness Methodist Conference. Rev. Dalton Peter ttrooks (North Pembroke Precinct) Rev. Rooks was licensed to preach in 1967 am ordained in 1967. Uehas served as pastor at Dundurrud Raptist Church for 30 years. Rev. Hill James l.ocklear (Prospec/ Precinct) Rev. l.ocklear is Pastor of Prospect United Methoi i.st Church. He has served as pastor of Collins Chap< UMC; Philadelphus UMC; Ashpole UMC; Pleasai drove UMC. He was licensed in 1971 and ordained i I9H2. Rev. Jerry R. McNeill (RentierI Precinct) Rev. McNeill ivt/.v licensed to preach in J98I and was ordained in 1982. He is past or ofRiverside Independent Baptist Church. He is also Principal of Riverside Christian Academy. His special recognition and awards include Plaques of Appreciationfrom Riverside Christian Academy and Plaques of Recognition for support for the McNeill Quartet Rev. Kent Chavis (Philadelphus Precinct) Rev. Kent Chavis is presently serving at pastor of Pembroke First Baptist Church. He was licensed to preach in 1987 and ordained in 1991. He served as pastor at Reedy Branch Baptist Church from 1991-94. - Rev. Joel (iarth l.ocklear Jr. (Fairmont H I Precinct) i Rev. l.ocklear was licensed to preach in / 996.
