Ihe Sunday chool Lesson John Brayboy. Salem Missionary Baptist Church Where is God? Isaiah 44:24-26; 45:1, 4-7 I. Where Doubt Is (Isa. 44:24) II. Wh ere Deceit Is (Isa. 44:25) III. Where Hope is (Isa. 44:26) jy. Where Help Is (Isa. 45:1, </- 7) I. Where Doubt Is (Isaiah 44:24) Judah was in exile in Babylon just as the prophet Isaiah had predicted. Some had been taken as small children Some had been born in exile. And many were grown when they went into exile Probably some of the adults had died in Babylon during the time of their exile. They were doing craftwork or farming for the Babylonian empire. Most of the wealthy Judcans had been stripped of their wealth. Rebellion had brought them into exile. When people rebel against the living God, thy will, suffer the consequences. Isaiah later prophesied that God would bring about the return of the northern kingdom of Judah Be- cause of their disobedience, the judgement of God was come unto them, but He had not cast them asidcallogcthCr. Godreniindsthcm that He is their redeemer, the one who rescues from hardship and trouble. Even though it seemed that there was no hope in view. God was there all the time. Sometimes as children of God, we feel like the Judeans that maybe He is no where to be found, but in the midst of our doubt. God is near We are reminded here that God created us as well as the Judcans He made the heavens and the earth, and all living things. When we begin to doubt we just need to look around and look at His creation and realize that He is near The same God who stretched forth the heavens as someone spreading out a sheet is the same God who provides for His people. God's people are never left alone. He is there all the time. When we rebel against Holy God, we must suffer the consequences of our actions, but God is there to give us grace to go through those circumstances. Where Deceit Is j (Isaiah 44:25) There were Judeans in exile who were trusting in God, There, were those who were trying to deceive the people of God also The devil has people today who arc trying to deceive the church in the name of Jesus The revealed truth of God will bring to nought the signs of a liar. Just as God had prophets in the days of Judah's exile, the devil had his counterfeits. The wisdom of god is foolish li ' ' . Jo the natural man but not to spirit ' ' led bcl tc\crs Clod's revealed truth makes fortune tellers and wise men look like hat thev arc. fools It is important Tor us to know what thus saith the word of God so that we will not be deceived into following after the dev il's crowd God has the answer for everything that we need in our lives, all in His precious book We need to search the word, pray and seek His face for the truth, and we will not be deceived by false prophIII Where Hope Is (Isaiah 44:26) When God speaks through his servants. He docs what He says He will do. Our hope and trust in God and hispromises. Our faith is built on the word of God Even in the midst of trouble, we have hope for a better day because we are confident that God is near. IV. Where Help Is (Isaiah 45:1, 4-7) God is supreme chief in command. He controls all the universe, creation and all mankind; even the seas and wind obey His voice. He is able to use ungodly men to bring good to His people, even though they are not aware of being an instrument in God's hands. God anointed Cyrus an ungodly pagan king to bring about the rescue of Judah and the rebuildingof Jerusalem. There were two reasons for god keeping his promise. (I) For Jacob's sake; and (2) Israel was His elect Even though Cyrus did not M know god and was not seeking after Him, He would use him to rescue Israel from captivity. Cyrus was equipped by God for the task that he needed performed By using C^rus and making htm great, God would accomplish 111 twothings:HewoulddclivcrIsracl " and show the world that He was the true God Also the world would know what He was doing God's greatness is seen in the fact that he created light, darkness and evil. God did not intend for people to be evil, but allowed them.to choose good or evil. God can allow tragedy to come to a people so that it can be a blessing and lesson for other people. This was the case with using cyrus to bring war on Babylon and surrounding nations. It was the way to rescue Israel and show the world He was the I AM Let us look at those things that many times seem tragic and sec if we may be able to see the good that God wants to bring out of it. Sometimes god allows things in people's lives to try to bring lost souls to Christ. Dearly beloved, has God been try ing to get your attention to show you that you need to repent? God wants to save you for Christ's sake. Kepent of your sins and accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior today. God bless you all until next W. c fray us ar,d come visit us at Salem.
