I i nil a Muynor Clark
This week I would like lo salute
and say a personal" thank you" to
the one and only TRUE LEADER
of the outdoor drama " Strike at the
Wind!" the Reverend Julian Ransom.
the pastor of Cherokee Chapel
Methodist Church..
I first met Mr. Julian in 1976
when he played the leader in the
outdoor drama. To the majority of
the cast members and even today
we respect him as a leader, a counselor
and a true friend and a true
servant of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I really wanted to have a" Strike
at the Wind Hall of Fame" if only to
honor him and Mr. Robert Bryant.
But. the Board of Directors "stuck
their nose in the air and would not
let me have it". But, Mr. Julian,
they might have stopped the Hall of
Fame but they cannot stop this song
that I have written to Honor you!
The Ballad of "Strike
at The Wind!"
No man walks in darkness.
That has seen the face of freedom.
And no man lives in vain
"Who seeks in truth"!
Henry Berry Lowcrie was the
one of the first warriors to stand up
for equality and justice around here.
He taught us "how to live together,
so we won't lose our freedom".
But, most ofall he taught us how
to " Strike at the Wind!".
(CHORUS)
Strike at the Wind, Strike at the
Wind!
Everybody needs to Strike at the
Wind!
We need to live together and coexist
forever.
And we all need to Strike at The
Wind!
Henry saw his father and brother
murdered
In their own front yard one
evening, and he proclaimed that
"JUSTICE would be his!".
He saw his people murdered and
he proclaimed
"That his Indian brothers and
sisters will be free once again!"
He said to:
Strike at the Wind! Strike at the
Wind!
Fvervbodv needs to Strike at the
Vktnd!
We need to live together and coexist
forever
And vve all need to " Strike at the
Uind'"
(Copyright 1997)
Thank you. Preacher Julian, for
being a friend to me. the counseling
that vou uave me trulv changed mv
life.
If anyone deserved to be recognized
by the members of The Robeson
Historical Drama Association
for their generous contributions to
the outdoor drama " Strike at the
Wind!." it is indeed YOU. A person
cannot soar like an Eagle when they
are around " a bunch of TURKEYS".
But. this EAGLE and the others too
numerous to name SALUTE YOU.
Has any one told you today " that
they love you ?" Well I do!
