Lawyer Fellowship
Pamlico Sound Legal Services, Inc.
(PSLS) and Legal Services of the
Lower Cape Fear, Inc. (LSLCF), Legal
Services of North Carolina Programs,
are seeking applications for
the Clifton W. Everett, Sr. Community
Lawyer Fellowship. This year
there are two fellowships available.
One Clifton' W. Everett, Sr. fellow
will be placed as an attorney in the
offices of PSLS in Greenville, North
Carolina. The other fellow will be
placed as an attorney in the offices of
LSLCF in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Both attorneys will be responsible
for handling a general caseload
in the traditional areas of poverty' law
practice.
The fellowship is contemplated as
an entry level lawyer position. Applicants
should be licensed to practice in
North Carolina, registered to take the
next available Bar Examination, or
eligible for admission by comity. Fellows
must be licensed to practice in
North Carolina when the fellowship
begins in September 1998. Applicants
will be expected to have demonstrated
interest in and concern for the problems
of low income people. A North
Carolina driver's license is required.
The ability to speak Spanish is desirable.
PSLS and LSLCF attorneys have
conducted complex litigation in state
and federal courts and are actively
involved in statewide issues affecting
our clients. Both programs conduct
community legal education to thousands
of low income and elderly clients.

The fellow will be compensated
on the LSNC statewide salary scale
with the beginning salary for attorneys
of 526,000 and excellent fringe
benefits.
