A note of Recognition and Thanksgiving
Wonderful things keep liappening for the American Indian community living in the Wake. Orange. Durham
(Research Triangle) Counts area. Since December. God continues to sends us wonderful, strong Christian
soldiers such as Dell Harris to bring a moving sermon We also had the pleasure to experience and bask i die
songs and music of his Brad And it is great to be in the presence of his wife. Ms Barbara, who always has
a wonderful snulc and a word for Jesus The family touched Triangle Native American United Methodist
Church (TNAUMC) in a special way, and for that we arc grateful
God's grace and hand of provision continues to amaze us He has blessed us with enormous support from
the Plainsmen Gospel Group, w hich has been and continues to be magnificent. The group has shared with
us a tremendous music ministry, inspiration, and love jince January. 2001 In addition, Bruce Jacobs and lus
family, catnebnd taught Sunday School Class for ua Gary Locklear, Chairmamof the Native American
Cooperative Ministry, visits and Rev Milford Oxendine brought a beautiful, yet compelling message!
Moreover, this past w eek the church had the pleasure of having Matt and Louisa Locklear Louisa sang
songs that stirred the heart and Matt who brought a powerful message, including an awesome interpretation
of Psalms 23. This kind of outward expressions of support is very humbling and it strengthens us as
the body of Christ
Moreover, we are the featured ministry of the year for Native American Awareness Sunday, and what an
honor that is since we just started in July of 2001! In addition. TNAUMC is the recipient of the 2001 Raleigh
District Christmas offering, a significant accomplishment that required action on the part of our District
Superintendent Kcrmit Braswcll. Moreover, he has personally purchased and donated scarves for our
church We arc humbled beyond w ords by these actions on the part of our District Superintendent Kcrmit
Braswcll and others to get such vast financial commitments accomplished on behalf of TNAUMC.
We now have a Bible study established, we have co-sponsored a meal and gifts for a men's homeless
shelter, prov ided support to shut-ins, and visit hospitals every week. We continue to have new visitors
almost every Sunday from both the surrounding area and from Robeson County. We arc receiving more
and more words of encouragement!
Words cannot adequately express our heartfelt appreciation We want to say Thank You for heeding the
call to feed our spiritual souls with our fellow American Indian people, the love, prayers, words of encouragement.
support, safety net of RDNACM, and concern shown to us and for us. Continue to lift us up in
prayer and that GOD will use this church in a mighty and glorious way!
In Christ, Rev. Sylvia Collins
