Alzheimer's Support group meets the second Thursday of each
month at 6 p.m. in the dining room of WoodHaven Nursing and
Alzheimer's Care Center. 1150 Pine Run Dr.. Lumberton. Families,
caregivers, and friends of persons suffering from Alzheimer's disease
or related disorders are invited to attend. For more information call

Unique Surviving Sisters, a female cancer support group, meets
the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.rti in the Obbie Lee Community
Education Room of the Southeastern Cancer Center. 1200 Pine
Run Dr.. Lumberton. The group, open to all women who have been
diagnosed with breast cancer and other cancers of the reproductive
system, is free and no pre-registration is required For more information

Super Lungs, a support group for persons with breathing problems
or lung disorders, meets the second Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m.

The Compassionate Friends support group, designed to oiler
friendship and understanding to bereaved parents, siblings, stepparents
and grandparents, meets the third Monday each month at 7 p.m
at Southeastern Home Health. 2002 N. Cedar St. in Lumberton. The
group is a mutual assistance, self-help organization. There is no charge

Man to Man, a prostate cancer support group and lecture series for
men who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer, meets the third
Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m in the Obbie Lee Community Education

The Stroke support group for people who have suffered a stroke

Southeastern Home Health sponsors a Diabetes support group at
7 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of each month. Meetings are held at
2002 N. Cedar St. in Lumberton. Health care professionals speak on
topics helpful to persons with diabetes and their families. For more

Narcotics Anony mous (NA), a self-help group for people recovering
from drug addiction, meets Mondays at 8 p.m. at Carolina Manor

Indian Education Program
10 STUDENTS CHOSEN TO ATTEND UPWARD
BOUND PROGRAM IN BOULDER. COLORADO
... Ten Indian children have been chosen to attend the j
Upward Bound Program in Boulder. Colorado this J
summer. This program consists of math, language arts,
culture, science and technology. Students are selected 1
based on their academic standing and recommendations.
This is a highly structured program where students
receive grades at the end of the six week program.
The upward Bound Program pays tuition and
board with Indian Education funding the travel. This
is another exciting example of partnering for the good

Free Health Checks in Red Springs
Free health screenings will be held Friday. April 19 from 10 a.m.
until 4 p.m. at the Red Springs Fire Department, 127 N. Main Street.
Checks for total cholesterol/HDL, blood pressure, blood sugar and
glaucoma will be offered to all adults 18 years and older. Only one
fingerstick is required. Results are available in five minutes, these
free screens are sponsored by Robeson County Partnership for community
