The funeral was conducted at 4 p.m. Friday (June 14) in White Hill Freewill Baptist Church by the Revs. Kelvin Locklear and Chris Locklear. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Mrs. Locklear is survived by two sons, Michael Chavis and Kim Locklear. both of Maxton; seven daughters, Catherine Wright of San Diego and Louise Cummings, Rosie Lee Deese, Annie Lois Locklear. Linda Hunt, Judy Chavis and Patsy Clark, all of Maxton; 32 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Horace Hardin, 80, of 13213 U.S. 301 N., died Thursday (June 13) in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton. Mr. Hardin was an Army veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart He owned and operated Hardin's Grocery and was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church. The funeral was conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday (June 16) in Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Lumberton by the Revs. Man ford Locklear, Jerry McNeill and Jimmy Hammonds.
