' 25c St. Pauls student awarded several scholarships Megan Mechelle Jolly, a senior at St. Pauls High School, on Monday. May 12. was awarded the Fulghum Family Scholarship. James Lowery Scholarship and the Rcbekah Revels Follow Your Dream Scholarship, at the Awards Ceremony for the school Megan has been actively involved in her school and coni munity. She is the Editor-inChief of the St Pauls High School Annual She received the Superintendent Academic Award this year She served as President of the FFA, is a National Honor Society member. Native American Student Association . American Indian Students of Engineering and Science, and Qui/. Bowl. She also served on a mission trip with her church to Asheville to work in a soup kitchen and in Kentucky she helped distribute gifts to underprivileged families in a poverty stricken community. She volunteers at the Lifestyles Rehabilitation Center working with therapists, volunteers at Special Olympics, volunteers with the St. Pauls Medical Responders as a junior member and serves with the Rape Crisis Center. She also has worked at the Lumberton Children's Clinic for the past three years part-time She was also a former part-time employee at Putt Putt and with Attorney Greg Bell of Lumbcrton. Megan plans to attend The University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She will be attending the second session of summer school beginning June 24. She plans to pursue a degree in social work and continue on to become a psychologist. She is the daughter of William and Mechelle Chavis Jolly of St. Pauls, the granddaughter of Cleveland and Ruby Bell Chavis of St. Pauls and the great-granddaughter of Maggie L.Bell of GlenFlora of Lumberton. (Photograph by David Malcolm) Pembroke Middle School Students Honored Pembroke-Twenty- five Pembroke Middle School students were introduced as new members of the school's cliapter of the National Junior BETA Club during the school's academic banquet on May 12. The new inductees had a 3.5 or better GPA in the fall semester, and they did not earn any course grade low er titan a "B " Those 25 were 8th graders. Brittany Bartley. Leslie Chavis. During his six weeks of training the Airman studied the Air Force mission, organization and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship.
