At the dining tahle, with its beautiful appointments, covers were laid for eight. Four elaborate courses were served. At the conclusion of the dinner the genial company of gues's. with their host, at tended the Aiuaza theater. The guests of the evening were: Miss Klsie Scoggins, of Durham; Mlas Maltie Iteid Doughton, of Sparta; MiBi Nina Whl'aker and Miss Maude Greenwood; K. C. James, li. P. Hurrell. H. V. II. club held a most de lightful meeting Tuesday evening with Mlas Maud Greenwood as hostess, at her home on Bridge street. This was the first meeting of the new year, and It was a real treat to the young la dles to spend a Jolly evening together after suspension during the holiday Season. Hirdge was enjoyed during the hours of the evening, the numbers be ing full of excitement ami interest. Grier returned yesterday from Charlotte, where he spent several days on business and pleasure combined. Dr. J. W. Iting and K. K. Henderson. This being the meeting nearest the birthday anniver saries of Robert K Lee and "Stone wall" Jackson, a most Interesting Lee Jackson program was conducted by the historian of t fie chapter.
