An elaborate test of th mentality of the children of a certain mill village In North Carolina is lo ie carried on during the coming week by Dr. U A. Williams, orofnsor of school administration In the Univer sity, and his assistant, L. H. Jobe. The work Is being dona at tha request of the school authorities of the vlllaa-. and Its results may have a far-reaching effect on educational practice elsewhere. The tests which a school child under goes are. of two kinds. Ons Is an achievement test, th other an Intelli gence test. The first shows what the child has achieved as a result of his studies; the second shows the level of his natural Intelligence. The present survey Is a result nf discovery made last year when he went to the same village to conduct studies to serve as a basis for school organisation.
