Town send tendered his resignation as pastor to take effect January 1, 1922. Mr. Townsend has served this church as pastor for two years, and hla resigna tion war received with deep regret, not only by the Baptist congregation, but by the people of Selma, where he la very popular. Mr. Townsend has been elected by the Baptist state convention as an evangelist for eastern North Carolina, and will take this work at the first of the new year. The board of directors of the cham ber of commerce elected T. M. Benoy, a well known business man, president of the chamber and George F. Brelts vice-president. M. L.
