Dowding, of this city, was today in receipt of advice from his mother at Clinton) Ontario, Canada, that, a cablegram bod been received, containing the sad intelligence of the wounding of his brother, Mr. Charles Dowding, which occurred sometime last week, probably during tho recent Prit ish offensive about " the Ypres Menine road. Mr. Charles Dowding .is a captain of the Thirty Third Canadian Infantry, and is well known in this city, having visite dhis brother here ahout two years ago, just before joining the overseas contingent of the Canadian army. The wound, according to advices, indicates thai it was frorn shrapnel and has m jured his left hand. Amsterdam, Oct. 1. ARGENTINE WILL T President Iroygen Calls For Concert of Action in Deal ing With Germany in South America. r Washington; Oct. 1. All expectations that Argentina might follow the lead of her neighbors and break with Germany have been dispelled here with the an nouncement that President Iroygen is determined not to heed the action of the Argentine congress and popular de mand lor action and will continue a neutral course. His suggestion that all Smith America, determine her war course by a joint conference's not expected to bear fruit because a similar proposal was rejected by all the other important g vernments sometime ago.
