It will be seen that it is the intention" of the Depariment to raise a Battalion of mounted men for special serviae in North Carolina, and the Commandant hopea that all able bodied men, who may be exempt by reaaon of having furnished substitutes or, otherwise, will not shrink from this eall, bat will hasten to enlist in the de fense of their homes, their firesides and the State that gave them birth. Parties enlisting in this Battalion will be exempt from duty in the Militin and Home Guard, and wifl receive the pay and allowanou of cavalrymen.
