Notice. A t a meeting of the Commifli- onw* for the town of Wilming ton, held at Dorfey’s on the. twenty-^ eighth January, 1789, ^ Resolved, That the Commillion- ers will meet weekly, every Wcdnelday evening at Six o clock, at Dorfey’t. Ordered, That the following places be the receptac.es for all kinds of dirt or rubbilh from the ftreets of the town :—In Sccond-ftrcet, the hollow between the houi'e occupied by Mr. Alexander Heftier and the houfe of Mrs. Boyd. In the fame ftreet, the hollow between the Eaft end of the lot formerly belonging□ to Mr. John Lyon and the Weft end. of Mr. Archi bald Maclaine's lot. The hollow in Dock ftreet, below the interfedion of Frpnt ftreet: And that all perfons having dirt or rubbilh lying before their doois or lots in the fticcts or al leys of this town, do remove the fame to lome one of thole places on or be fore the twentieth day of February next. Ordered, That Mr. John Allan be appointed to take charge of the Fire Engine, ,and that he do have jthc fame worked the fii ft Moi*day in the months of February, March, April, Novem ber, and December,, and the fii it and third Mondays in the other mon»lis ; and that he be allow ed the fum of eight pounds tor the fame, and for keeping laid Engine in good order; and that he have two additional Keys, made to the lock of laid Engine-Houfe, one of Vi liich to he kept by Mr. Robert Wil- lCings, one by' Mr, John Campbell, and that the other key of faid houfe be kept by Mr. John Allan. Ordered, That at the meeting fub- fequent to the next meeting, viz. on the eleventh day of February, wall be taken under confidcration, the expedi ency of Icttling an affize of bread, when the rclpe6liVe bakers may attend if they . think proper. Ordered, That in cafe of a fire happening in the town, during the night, every houfehuldcr lhall immedi- aiely, upon the fii ft alarm,place alight ed candle in a window of their houfe fronting any ftreet 01 alley, and in cafe of failure thereof to befubjeft to a pe nalty of forty (hillings. Ordered, That the Conftabic be dirG6Ved to have the bell rung cveryjf night at nine o’clock, during the win ter, and at ten o'clock, during the fum- mcr; and that all Negroes found in the ftreets after the ringing of the hell, without a pafs or a lanthorn, lhall be committed to the ftocks. # Resolved, That the Commiflioh- ers will vifit every houfe in town, on the third Monday in FebruaryT^for the purpofeof infpedling the Fire Buckets and Bags, when all defaulters may ex- peft to be fined as the ordinance in that cafe dircfls.
