Wilkie, memlber of the local ABC squad, forced his way into the honae of James McNeaf, employee of Lig:- Sret and Myers tobacco company, and clubbed and shot him to death. ^ McNeal resided at 2308 Pettigrew street. We have felled I the forests, tilled the soil, span-1 the rivers and the streams I Despondent over the fact she was unable to continue her col lege education, Miss Catherine Savage,' 2'2-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Savage of 1007 Glenn street, shot herself here Tuesday afternoon at the home of Benjamin L. Hicks, 50'8 Dunbar street. The bullet which was fired from a 38 caliBre pistol entered the abdomen of the young wo man and then ploughed its way entirely 'through her body. She was rushed to Lincoln hospital in a dying-condition where phy- siciarig labored hard in a futile attempt t osave her life. Miss Savage died at 2:15 P. M. Wed nesday. The decease' was a graduate of Hillside Park High school and a semoif at the Nprth Ca rolina College. • She was born and reared m' Durham, and had lived here all of her life. When Miss Savage went up stairs I paid no special attention to it, as she had free access to th^ home.
