Fratt, sponsor, Mrs. Creasy Smith, President. UTOPIA CLUB The Utopia Club was royally entertained Friday evening when Mib. Dora Green enter tained them and several honor ed guest at her home on Fay etteville Street. Beautiful assorted Fall flow ers were arranged throughout the home. Mrs. Green greeted her guests and directed them to the wrap room where her neices Mesdames Madge Tvirner, Stella Alston, Grace Williams aud nephew Bobby Alston were to assist her *in rendering suyh services as needed. Mrs. liosu Fjurington opened the meeting with inspiritional devotions after which the lausi- ness delibeiutions were entered into, presided over by the presi dent Mrs. Mable Mabry. Minutes were read by the sec retary, Mrs. Ijena Richardson. Reports from the various com mittees w'ere read and adopted namely — Budget and Pro gram. The Budget Conunittee was chaired by Mrs. Essie Curry and the program by Mrs. Bessie Pratt. Both committees made fin© reports and were thanked for this splendid work. The Sun shine Committee had done a splendid work carrying cheer and sunsliine to the sick and needy. Mrs. Freeland Price was wel comed into the club as a new meniber, and slie gave remarks. Mrs; Golden who has been absent due to illness for a period, was welcomed back. The honored guests of Mrs. Green were call on for re marks. They were Miss Nettie Green, Mesdames Lil Farring ton, Ada Horton, Sarah Felder, Mary Ray, P’loniiie Goodloe, Ijillie Thompson, Ida Davis, Lenora Tyson, Effie C. Daye. During the social hour, a delicious two course dinner was served which was highly enjoy able. Thursday eveni^ all tripped th(j light fantastic toe at the women’s gym and on Friday a dinner party and sight seeing trip to the North Carolina Mu tual ended the meeting. HOME FROM CALIF. James E. Gregory and daugh ter, Mrs. Helen C. Davis have r‘turned to their home in Ox ford after attending the Nation al American lv‘gion convention in California. They were joined in California by Com. J. C. Bowser, vice commander of the American 1 region and Mrs. Saraii Alarsii, vice president of the hjuiies Auxiliary. On their return, they visited relatives in Chicago, III., and Cleveland, Ohio. The trip was made by motor. VISIT IN ALBERMARLE Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Johnson, Jlr. and Mrs. P. L. Perkins and Airs. Aiioe Brame motored to Albermarle Sunday', October 29 as guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Marbles, formerly of Durham. Everyone enjoyed exploring the wo^s and looking over this beautiful farm. Later all were invited into a very attractive dining room where a perfectly'3“ delicious dinner awaited them. The food was not only delicious, but l>est of all it was raisefl on tlieir farm. Rosn LADIES AID Wednesday, Airs. Jackie De- Shazor Jackson entertained her church club “The Ladies Aid” at her home, 809 Fayetteville Street. As always Alrsi. Jackson was a charming hostess. She w'as assisted by Miss Geneva Mebane in entertaining the club. The business was presided over by the president, Plassie Harris. Marie Faulk, secretary, gave minutes and rej)orts. This was election of officers night and it was unamiously decided that all officers would be re-elected for the coming year. Names were drawn for the Christmas party to be held at the meeting in December and it will be loads of fun to find out who drew who’s name. The home throughout carried beautiful arrangements of as sorted chrysanthemums which lent a festive air for the oc casion. The group assembled at 8 p. m. aud the party' began with the playing of various card games. Around 9 :30 the guests were invited into the dining room where a beautiful arrangement of white chrysanthemums graced the center of the table whieij was covered with a lace cloth and also carried the beautiful birthday cake.
