Albert Peterson entertained a group o their friends at a delayed New Year’s Party at their home, 2800 Mulberry Street. Refreshments were served to the follow ing: Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Erwin, Mr. and Mrs. Walker Jenkins, Mr. and Mrs. G. T. Tate, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Suitt, Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. McCrae and Sam Wilson of this city and Mr. and Mrs. Greenville Harris of Goldsboro. A vety enjoyable time was had by all. IN HOSPITAL—Dr. H. H. Hart, pastor of First Calvary Bap tist Church, is a patient in Lincoln Hospital. ~ MRS. CLEGG HOSTESS TO WHITE ROSE CIRCLE—On Sun day afternoon, January 11, the White Rose Circle of Saint Mark A. M. E. Zion Church met at the home of Mrs. Eula Clegg, 405 Lin- ^ wood Avenue at 4 o’clock. The president, Mrs. Theodocia Felder, presided over the business session. Those present were: Mrs. Lucille Erwin, Mrs. Edna Satter field, Mrs. Letha McDougald, Mrs. Elmira Flintall, Mrs. Marie Clark, Mrs. Toren Cotten, Mrs. Hazel McBroom and Mrs. Ella C. Woods, who was a visitor. A most delectable repast was served and enjoyed by all. The next meeting will be with Mrs. Lucille Erwin. HOLDS REGULAR MEETING—^The Dalhia Garden Club held its regular meeting, Tuesday, December 30 at the home of Mrs. Annie Mangum, 1207 Fifth Street. The home was beautifully decorated with Ponsiettias and other plants. Mrs. Ernestine Holmes, president, had charge of the meeting and presided at the short business session. The members then enjoyed a pleasant hour of conversation, discussing flowers and other events of the holidays. The members were invited into the dining room where the hostess, assisted by Miss Clara Stroud and Mrs. Ruth McCowan, served a delicious-tur key dinner and all the trimmings. Members enjoying this fine hospitality were Mesdames Litha Brewer, Annie Perry, Mary Moore, Ruth McCowan, Ernestine Holmes, Lucinda Harris and the Misses Lillie Rogers and Clara Stroud. BACK TO PHILADELPHIA—W. A. Allison has returned to Philadelphia after spending several days with his grandfather, W. G. Hamme at 1000 Scout Drive. Chuith met in their regular monthly meeting Wednesday evening in the lounge of the Educational Build ing. Miss Hattie Jenkins, vice-president, presided. Mesdames Selena Wheeler, Bea White and Lula Warren were hostesses for the meeting. Rev. D. A. Johnston, met with the group. Due to a misunderstanding as to date of meeting, only a small group was present. The next regular meeting will be the first Wednesday in February. The Garden Gate was opened by the president, Mrs. Sadie Lloyd. After the various committees made reports, business for the month was transacted and plans map ped out for activities for the coming Spring. Mrs. Nora DavU of Ridgeway, South Carolina was a visitor to the drib. During the social hour delicious refreshmente were served. A movie which was taken at the Christmas party at the home of Mrs. Effie Cotton was shown and was thoroughly enjoyed. The next meeting will be held with Mrs. Thomasine Register in Chapel Hill. Hunter, Priest in charge of Saint Titus P. E. Church brought the New Year’s message. Mrs. Essie Curry in her soft and meaningful voice eloquently introduced the Rev. Hunter. Guests and club members thoroughly enjoyed Father Hunter’s message. His talk was so practical and touch^ on oiu- every day living as good neighbors and doing kindly Godlike deeds for every one. A most beautiful and helpful sermon was preached in so short a period. In the absence of the president, Mrs. Mabel Mabry due to illness, the vice-presidnt, Mrs. Dora Green presided over the meeting. Saturday Mrs. Butts had in a few friends between the hours of six and eight to meet and chat with her aunt. Mrs. Perry returned to Brooklyn Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Garland Spaulding of New York were the pleasant visitors to family members and friends over the Christmas holidays. ENTERTAINS MERRY WIVES—Mrs. Alice Farrison proved a charming hostess Saturday evening when she entertained her bridge club, “The Merry Wives” and guest player, Mrs. Reba Davis in her home on North Carolina College campus. Assorted house plants «f greenry and gladiola lent a festive air to the occasion. Tables were laid for twelve and before play a most delicious dinner was enjoyed. —■ ■ Four progressions of bridge was played and when scores were added prizes went to Mrs. Davis, guest, Mrs. Josephine Clement, first, Mrs. Thelma Perry, second and Mrs. Lola Riddick, consola tion.
