George Family DURHAM The Pearsontown Benefit club met at the Jesus House of Prayer, two, on Lincoln. St. on Nov. 8. Mrs. Mary Blake pre sided over the meeting. During the meeting, plans were discussed on ways and means of enlargening the club’s treasury. Also, one new member Mrs. Wilson, Joined the club. In addition several visitors were present. Notice was made ot the fact that two of its members, Mrs. Earl Brooks and Mrs. Al- vania Mason are still ill. The club will be concerned with ists plans for Christmas at its next meeting, scheduled for the second Sunday in December at the church. Merry Wives Bridge Club The Merry Wives Bridge Club met Saturday evening with Mrs. Salena Wheels at her home at 302 Formosa avenue. Mrs. Wheeler, assisted by her child ren, Julia and Warren, and hus band Johtv, and Mrs. £Uizabeth Pratt, served a most delectable and appetizing mepu before play began for the evening. Mrs. Mar tha Frye of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. Mildred Banks were guest players. Four progressions were played during the evening, and when scores were tallied, high scorer for the guests was Mrs. Banks. Mrs. Frye, as an out-of-town wa^pre^nt- ed a gift. She was the charming houseguest of Mrs. Ethel Berry. The club first prize went to Mrs. Josephine Clement and second prize went to Mrs. Thel ma Perry. Other Merry Wives playing were Mesdames Emma Randolph, Frances Schooler, Alice Farrison, Sadie Hughley, Reba Davis, Ethel Berry, Fannie Robinson and Plassie Harris. Darritys Stop In Durham The Darritys were enroute to Hendersonville from Norfolk to visit their mother for a few days, and then will sail from New York for Switzerland for, a brief holiday, then to Beirut and Lebanon where they will be stationed for the next two years in a Health Education program. Visit Spelman’s First Family Mesdames Alice Farrison and Sadie Hughley spent the week end in Atlanta visiting with Spelman College President and Mrs. Albert Manley. NEW ADDITION Little Muriel George is the latest addition to the Richard George’s household. Mother and daughter are fine. Miss Young Recuperating Miss C. S. Young, who suffer ed an accident Sattirday, Nov. 14, enroute to Kinston, is a pa tient at Lincoln hospital where her condition Is reported gpod. Monroe, pastor of the Whit.* Rock Christ'an Church and the church’s choir vere heard on ’Tuesday, Nov 17; and on Wednesday, Nov. 18, Rev. G. Parks, pastor of the Mill Grove Baptist Church and that church’s choir were in charge of special services. J. H. B. Ad dle Watson, president, presided. Principal J. E. Grigsby adminis tered the pledge to the members of the organization.
