Effec tively shown with the Christmas tree in its Special nook, all la- dened with sparkling gifts. Mrs. Lyda V. Merrick—P*res. "Towered” in her planning for tbe program and every one’s re- qx>nse was harmonic with ex pressive quotations proclaming the Savior’s birth. Sec't. Young had brought a wonderful greet ing taken from a letter by Ira Grovannis. She wishes to share Pres. Merrick read it t'St her. The devotional period was had around the hostess' beauti fully appointed table. Its covers were purely white under the soft glow of candles which had gotten its light, singly, from one's neighbor. Enchanting Ca rols, leading with the well loved Silent Night were sung. Joy to the world rang out clear and sweet. Sisters Flossie Dunstan and Gazelle Lipscomb read the Apostles version’s of the Christ Child's nativity. Mrs. Ora S. Lee ,?«ad a Special Christmas Prayer finally, all sang soothingly. I'm dreaming of a White Christmas ending a great spiritual experi ence. Miss Bailey's menu was all one could wish for and how en joyable. Guests were heartily welcomed and shared bountiful ly in the evening gaieties. Santa had come especially to the Clubs’ ward at N C C—Cora I^e Davis. She was given more than a large suit case could hold, and each person had lovely gifts. Miss Bailey was hailed as a marvelous hostess—then, on 1%urs. evening, Jan. 7 the club held its - 4th annual party, for the group known as The Library Comer for the Blind at the W. I>. Hill Recreational Center. On entering one could see at a glance how busy the committees had been. Pettigrew St. The South's Finest -Eating Establishment headed the Committee on re- freriunents -and her arrange ments are always "tops" ably as sisted by her committee mem bers. Tables were in U-shaped with lily white cloths. At ^the head was a huge and most beau tiful flower arrangement and ferns were strewn the whole length of tables floral decora tions given by Florist Long. Lighted candles gave soft glows, president Merrick welcomed everyone m6st heartily extend ed happy New Years wishes. Club members each brought one dozen sandwiches. They were different in kinds and very delicious-these with piping hot lemon tea, ice cream and cook ies were thoroughly enjoyed by aU. Mrs. Ora S. Lee and her com mittee did a marvelous job in transportation for our blind guests. Representatives from the Lion’s Club were also guests as well as Miss Paulson—so weU known and loved especially by the blind. Mrs. Merrick gave much praise to their good works. Each of the latter spoke of how much they enjoyed being pre sent. Mr. Johnny Washin||ton, Pres, of the B-group spoke did the Rev. J. L. White. Cora Lee Davis said the Dorcas Club had given the happiest Christ mas she had ever had. After re freshments, Mrs. L. D. Bames of the Center and Miss Viola Roe of the Library Staff directed en joyable games. These games were followed by the Grand March In which all club mem bers joined merrily. Thus ended another grand occasion. Broncos Edge FAYETTEVILLE In a fast and farious game that saw the lead go now to the visi tors and now to the home boys, and one the ftatcome of which remained in doubt from the opening whistle. Head Coach William "Gus" Gaines’ Fayette ville “Broncos" had to resort to a whirl wind, Utt-mlnute finish to edge a determined, smooth- dickering A. and T. “Aggie” quint by the score of 84-83 here lait week. It WM the Broncos' method of initiating on home territory their entry into CIAA cage competition.
