Hot Fayetteville Cagers Down St. Paul, 92-65, in Loop Game FAYETTEVILLE Inspired by an imposing 8-3 win record in CIAA competi tion and a season cage count of thirteen wins against three los ses, the ramping Fayetteville State Teachers College “Bron cos" put on a show to celebrate the departure to the armed ser vices of their stellar guard, Mal colm 'Mai" Hunter, and to ad minister a sound spanking to “Tiger" Coach N. L. Stallworth’s fast-breaking quint to a 92-65 score. The score does not tell the whole story, however, for the Virginians, paced by their ama zing “set shot” artist, guard Ralph Bacote, currently high point man in the CIAA circuit, sank basket for basket through out the first quarter and the Fayetteville Teachers had to ex tend themselves to post a three point lead at the conclusion of the first quarter The second quarter saw a fine exhibition of ball handling by Bacote, workhorse for the “Ti ger” outfit, and his running mate Co-Captain Milton Strick land, but “Mai” Hunter ha^ al ready begun to break through the visitors’ defense and William "Duke" Lewis, was hitting lor his sensational “long set shots” in rapid succession. The visiting basketeers soon bogged down under the pressure and the Broncos ran the first-half score to 40-25 count. The "home boys” were out in front of a tricky, confident cage group to stay.
