First, to aid the sick In the community; and second, to bring the people of the com munity closer together. The club was organized dur^ ing the month o^ January. So far It has met tour tlmei. The] first meeting was beld~at tbe home of Mrs. Roia B. Branc^i, 307 Dunstan Street, where thei organization took form. The I second meeting was at the home of Mrs. Agnes Borden, 307 Dun stan Street. The third was at the home of Mrs. James Carrington, Dunstan Street. The fourth was held with Mr. and'Mrs. Thomas Clement on Concord Street, Monday night, February 21. The club elected as its presi dent the Rev. H. Albert Smith who is pastor of the First Bap tist Church in Apex. Other of^- cers elected were Mrs. Noyreed McKinney, vice presid^t; Mrs. Cornelia Herndon, secretary; Mrs. Thomas Clement, assistant secretary and Mrs. Janie Wall, treasurer. At the present time, the or ganization has 24 members, tiiree of whom joined on the night of February 21. A number of other persons have expressed intention of becoming mnnbers. The Monday night meeting opened with devotions consis ting of a song led by BSrs. Noy reed McKinney, and iM:ayer by Rev. Smith, wUch was followed by a song led by Mrs. JoMphine Perry. Rev Smith then gave a talk after which be called for the minutes of the last meeting, which were read and adopted. Reports from various com mittees were called lor and other routine business dispat^- ed. Interesting remarlcs were giv en by Mrs. Rosa Branch on the Life of George Wasfain^n. Dues were collected at thfo pctot, each member giving a Bible quotation as he paid. Mrs. McKay on behalf of the club gave an expression of ap preciation to Mr. and Mrs. Cle ment. Mr. Clement responded briefly. The meeting closed with the use of “Bless Be the Tie That Binds” and benediction by the Rev. Mr. Smith. Three new members joined: Mrs. Portia McCoy, Mrs. Pearl Tilley, and Mrs. Janie Cousins. Members present were Mes- dames Rosa Branch, Leona Smith,_Cor» Clement, Josephine Perry, Noyreed McKhmey, Do ra HlggliM, Maria Judd, Janie Wall, Lillie Wellington, Hattie Geer, CHmelia Herndon, Kella Leathers, Lillian MeKay, Mr Thomas Clement and Rev.
