Members present were Mes- dames Mattie Brown, Ethel Jones, Estelle Shaw, Alice Reid Jesse O’Neal, Mildred Mangum, Eflie Cliavis, Helen Webb, Del la Hubbard, Golie Carter, Nez- zie Clark, Manna Fisher, 11a Mae Evans, Helen Lash, Martha Stanley, Mr. Elijah Jones, and Mus Annie Dunigan, who gave an interesting talk. Lc Fluer Garden Clnb Le Fluer Garden Club met with gardener Peddy and Pitt man, Monday evening April 8th The meeting was opened by the president Mrs. Minerva Evans. The Lord's prayer was repeated by all. Mrs. Ly^ Wray introduced the speaker Mrs. Elnora Smith. Mrs. Smith gave many helplul ideas on caring lor flowers. A movie was shown also on flow er arrangement. Members present: Mesdames Marian Henry, Estelle Freeland, Minerva Evans, Naomi Tliorpe, Gladys Rhodes, Lyda Wray, Evelyn Dudley, Geneva Dillard, Nellie Toole. Guest was Mrs. Lizzie Cannady. Mrs. Rhodes thanked the hos tess lor the evening. The Melody Chorus ol Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church, Colfax Street held its weekly rehearsal Tuesday, April 9th. Mrs. Exie Bell Snell and Mrs Essie Garrett served the group with a surprise supper. Guests present: Rev. and Mrs. W. F. Cox, Mrs. Ruth Flowers, Mrs. Louise Bell, Mrs. Cora Office, Mrs. Louise Hodges, Mrs. Mary McClain, Mr. John Farrington, Mr. Leroy Alston, Mr. O. D. Evans. The Year Round Garden Club, with Mrs, Sarah Felder as hos tess, met at the Algonquin Club liouse, Monday evening at 8 o'clock, in a very unique set ting. The 6 card tables with white linen covers and bowls of pansies on cacti table were the center of interest. The higl^ lights of the meeting, opened by Mrs. Alma Bennett, was the Arbor Day Program. The club was favored by an address by Mr. James Taylor ol North Carolina College which was en joyed immensely by them aU. Business of the club was dis cussed, among the items of in terest discussed was the "Spring Tour” of gardens, which was held Saturday, April 13th, at 3:P.M. Honor guests were Mrs. Ma tilda Rownsend, Mrs. Bessie Pratt, Mrs. Ada Horton, and James Taylor.
