Winston-Salem Cops Own Relays; Coach Wilbur Ross’ Winston- Salem Rams won their Invita tional Track and Field Relays here last weekend far the second straight year as they earned 70 points for first place meet honors in a field of eight participating teams. North Carolina College's Ea gles were seclond with 50 points and the Fayetteville State Teachers College Broncos, third with sixteen. Six meet records were shat tered during the course of the afternoon. The Rams won first place honors in the two mile run, the 220 yard dash, the 440 yard dash, the 880 yard relay, and the high jump. St. Augustine’s Albert Bor row and Winston-Salem’s Ted dy Brown tied for second place in the high jump with leaps of 6’2”. Roberts, 20 year old Raleigh (NO honor student, and Holl man, 21 year old Winston- Salem standout on the 1956 CIAA three-way championship club, succeed A1 Montgomery and Paul 'Woodkrd. Roberts and Hollman were stars on the championship ‘53 and ‘54 clubs. Hollman was voted the fugles best defensive lineman for *56 play. He re ceived the Drs. J. M. Hubbard Trophy for the distinction. •« Roberts won the A. T. Spaul ding Sportsmanship trophy in 1956. The Eagles’ star center, Roberts, was captain of the J. W. Ligon Little Blues grid team in Raleigh during 1953. Vice president of Ligon’s senior class, Roberts was voted by his class mates as “most versatile in the senior class.” He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney W. Roberts, 613 S. East St., Ra leigh. The Raleigh lad is studying to prepare for a career in so cial work. Hollman’s post office is Hanes, N. C., but he graduated from Carver High School in Winston-Salem where he letter ed in. football and baseball for the Carver Yellowjackets. He hopes,to coach football after graduation.
