Rev. John L. Bryan, Director of Religious Activities at Bennett College, interpreting the conference theme; Drafting a Blueprint for Effective Adult Living”, recommended to the youthful audience in drafting a blueprint, one solution: “Ask God to help us to run our Uvea.” Approximately 200 delegates, members, and parents from North and South Carolina, and Virginia attended the three-day conference held at Hayes-Taylor YMCA in Greensboro, which be gan Friday, November 15. Dr. Hobart Jarrett, Chairman of the Division of Hmnanities, Bennett College delivered the keynote address at the opening session, Friday evening. The mind, body and soul are the L raw materials with which the builder must construct his life in the kind of society that he wishes to live in, was the key thought of Dr. Jarrett’s message. Miss Grace Matthews, Direc tor of Distributive Education in the Public Schools at Richmond, Va. captivated the 200 delegates, parents and members in the ban quet address Saturday evening. Using Benjamin Franklin’s well known verse—“For want of a nail—” she recommended that the teen-ager build his life with the “nails” of a disciplined mind, broad vision, perservance and love. main sneaker at the Saturday morning session over which George W. Mrs. Lee told the youths that tomorrow’s world, with the invention of Sputnik, and other unusual inventions and cultures, will be a different and wondrous world to live in. To be successful in this kind of world, the regional director urged them to include in their blueprint of living: education, health, spiritual understanding and ajn understanding of human behavior. "Too much “canned music” like too much canned creative thinking that you will food will not be conducive to the need for tomorrow’s world," she said. The Saturday afternoon ses sions were devoted to the inter pretation of the conference theme by the youths themselves in discussion groups under tfae guidance of consultants. College Forty five home economics teachers from lO North Carolina Counties are scheduled to attend the District IV Homemaking Teachers’ meeting at North Carolina College Tuesday (Nov. 26) at 2:30 p.m. Sessions will be held in the college’s Home Economics Bldg. According to Mrs. L. F. James, area supervisor, “the meeting will be held in the teacher train ing institution in order that pro spective tcachers might see the correlation between the pre-ser- vice program and the In-service activities.” A principals’ roundtable will include these school heads: ]h W.
