'Their attire was similar to that worn by the maid of honor. ■White fern with yellow chrysan themums, snap dragons and roses formed the bouquets car ried by each of the attendants. Regina George was the junior bridesmaid. She was dressed similarly to the other attendants. Diana Hill, cousin of the bride, was flower girl, and Quinton Holloway, nephew, was the ring bearer. Robert E. Brbwer, ^jrother of the groom, served as best man. Ushers were Carl and Kenneth Brower, brothers of the groom, John M., Hillary, Major, and J. Sim Holloway, Jr., brothers of the bride. For her daughter’s wedding, Mr*. Holloway chose an ice blue dress of sillc and lace with matching hat and shoes. She wore a white corsage. Mrs. Brower, mother of the groom, wore a blue lace dress with blue accessories, adorned also by a white corsage. ♦ Following the church cere mony, a reception was held on the lawn at the home of the bride’s parents. Hostesses were Mrs. E. B. Johnson and Mrs. Wil ma Johns Montgomery. The bride wore a two-peice navy dress with navy and white accessories for traveling. The orchid from her prayer book served as a corsage. The newlyweds are both 1956 graduates of North Carolina- College. The bride is currently | employed as an instructor ■ of' Physical Education at Merrick- Moore high school in Durham County. The groom, engaged in retail merchandising in Winston- ^alem, will pursue advanced studies at North Carolina Col lege in September. They plan to take up residence in Durham. Scheduled At The quarterly union meeting of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Association will be held at Cedar Rock Baptist Church at New Hill Saturday and Sun day, August 30-31, according to an announcement this week. The Reverend Harold Roland, president of the association, will conduct the meeting and deliver the presidential address on Saturday afternoon. He is pastor of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. A discussion on the topic, “What Can the Church Inject into it’s Program to Influence Youth,” will be heard during the Saturday morning session. Speaking from the point of view of ministers will be the Rev. E. T. Thompson, for adults, Mrs. Docia Evans, and for young peo ple, Mrs. lola Mason, Following Roland’s presiden tial message Saturday afternoon will be the doctrinal sermon by the Rev. C. C. Lawrence. Ushers Home Picnic Setting For Church Body The Ushtrs Home at Frank- linton was the scene of the an nual picnic given by White Rock Baptist Church’s District 10 last Saturday. The host group was accompanied by several members of District 15 of the church. The group journeyed by motorcade from the home of dis trict leader Mrs. L. B. Farring ton to the picnic scene. Dr. E. L. Totten spoke to the group during the picnic and dis cussed the daily lesson from “The Secret Place.” L. E. Austin, president of the N. C. Ushers or ganization, brought greetings to the assembled group. Guest Speaker At White Rock White /lock Baptist Church will have as guest minister Sun day August 31 the Rev. Morton Kurtz. Kurtz, who is executive director of the XJorth Carolina Council of Churches, will speak at the 11 a.m. service. He will be presented to the lo cal congregation by Trustee Asa T. Spaulding, a member of the executive committee of the North Carolina Council of Churches. A native of Kansas City, Missouri, the distinguished churchman is a minister in the Presbyterian Church of the U.S. Kurtz left a pastorate to become affiliated with the Kansas City Council of Churches. From this position he came to North Caro lina in 1951 to assume his pre sent position. He holds member ship on important committees of the National Council of Church es, as well as on the Governor’s Migrant Committee and on the Committee of Refugees. Revival services will begin at First Baptist Church in Chapel Hill on the 21st—26 of Sept. Rev. C. W. Kerry of Charlotte, N. C. will be the guest Speaker. Rev. J. R. Manley, pastor.
