Unlike some of the almost never changing memberships in church-connected choirs, an extra curricular musical group at a col lege is always plagued by a rapid turn-over of members. TJie, Dubois work mellows with age in a choir’s repertory. The very able and talented di rector of the ciioir is John W. Hunter who received his training in South Carolina, at Howard Uni versity, and witi) several famons New York choirs, llie accom plished accompanist, at home both at tlie organ and piano, is Mildred Strider, a product of Howard and Julliard . Tile thirty-five member touring group is only a part of the eighty voice choir. Un this trip most of them are juniors, with a sprink ling of seniors and sophomores . . Many of (he seniors could nut ■nake the trip due to practice- leaching commitments. In fact a senior in the small aUo section .lad traveled all night (during the previous 24-hour period) on local bu.sses to arrive at the Columbia campus just minutes before the jhoir departed.
