entertained last Thursday evening,
at 7 o'clock by the Wisteria Bridge
ijlab, of which they both »re mem-
kers.
Hie affair took place at the
home of Mrs. J. W. V. Cordice,
150* Faj’etteville Street. The home
was beautifully decorated with
verj- pretty flower arrangements
done by Mrs. Corlicc from her
own garden.
The ladies assembled in the
spacious li\ing room around the i
honored guests, where many kind
won}* were spoken by each mem-1
ber with the president, Mrs. Chat
E. Rivera, leading. Mrs. Lil Bu
chanan rendered an orginal pome,
entitled “Baltimore Bound."
Gifts were then preaented to the
honored guests by Mrs. Julia Har
ris. Mrs. Goins responded with
thanks and appreciation. ,
Mrs. Cordice invited the ladies
intu the dinning room where all
sat around the dining table in
an old fashioned famltj^'stylc and-
enjoyed a menu of salad plate with
punch and accompaniment.

MRS. CHARLIE JAMES
Mrs, Charlie Mae James, 30, of;
918 Elizabeth street, died at Dukej
hospital on Friday, May 22 after I
suffering a heart attack. Funeral
services were held at Union Bap
tist Church on Sunday May 24.
The Rev. A. S. Croom Union Bap
tist pastor, officiated. Burial was
in Beech wood cemetery.
The deceased was the daughter
of the late Mrs Nannie Jeffries.
Her suvivors are her husband,
Riley James, and several other
relatives.
