SAMMY IN LONDON ... If Sam
my Davis, Jr really marries the
tall Mae Britt, long-legged Swedish
film star with the shoulder-lengthi
straight hair, he’ll fool a lot of
his fans . . for they just don’t be
lieve in his engagements any
more. . .
Meanwhile, Sammy did a whoop
ing business in London’s Pigalle
dub at $6.50 per customer. . The
800 seat capacity was filled in. on
time and Sammyl held the crowd
practically single-handed . . With
a contract calling for' $lt,000 per
week-Sammy spent $4,000 on over
weight luggage at the. airport, the
largest single sum paid says Pan
Am - who was just as surprised
as we were when we heard it . . .
THOMAS
Organist to Record for RCA
Jon Thomas, a jazz organist with
something to say is the latest
and newest artist added to' the
roster of stars for ABC-Paramount
Records, Am-Par President Sam
H. Clark announced in New York.
A native of Cincinnati, Ohio,
Jon has worked in and around the
Southern Ohio metropolis for
nearly 2 years. He has appeared
on occasion with Eddie “Lockjaw”
Davis, Illinois .Tacquet, Dakota Sta
ton and Ruth Brown.

M>m-Pia»»’W organ, he has head
ed bis own jazz combo and is one
of the leading exponents of the
modern sound in Cincy.
Jon has recorded often on inde
pendent labels, and one of the
means ABC-Paramount used to get
him on wax was to purchase the
best of his masters.
Jon’s most recent recording, the
first oh which he is also heard
as a vocalist, is “HEARTBREAK”
backed with “TEASIN’ ”.
ABC-Paramount talent purvey
ors have already predicted that

the million-sale -mark.
A musician since his early teens,
Jon has appeared in night clubs
everywhere in the East, from Buf
falo to Atlaitic City. #.
The new long-terms deal vrith
ABC-Paramount may open the
