The ushers were James Jackson Henderson, junior, the bride’s brother, George Barrick of Baltimore, Maryland, and Monroe Barrick of Philadelphia, Pennsyl vania, brothers of the bridegroom. Church was the scene Saturday, August 6, at 9:30 P, M. of the wedding of Miss Alice Gwendolyn Page and Edward Lee Battle, both of Chapel Hill. The Rev. T. P. Duhart was the officiat ing minister of the double ring ceremony. The bride is the niece of Henry Neal and the late Mrs. Alice Neal of Chapel Hill. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Jones of Chapel Hill. Miss Georgia McCoy, organist, ^nd Prince Tayolr, soloist, present ed the wedding music prior to the ceremony. Selections included “Be cause”, “O Promise Me” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” The vows were spoken before a backgrown of woodwardia fern and palms, baskets filled with white gladioli, carnations, and li lies and cathedral candles in wrought iron candelabra. . Given in marriage by her uncltf, the bride wove a formal gown of silk organaza fashioned in Princess Margaret design. The fitted bodice featured a V-neckline piped with satin and Ion" fitted sleeves, end ing in a cathedral train. Her three tiered veil of silk illusion was at tached to a^' half-hat of alencon lace re-embroidered in sequin and seed pearl. She carried a bridal bouquet of baby breath centered with a white orchid. Matron of honor was Mrs. Mar garet Purvis, sister of the bride. She wore a ballerina lenRth dress .•'f yellow chiffon over taffeta de signed with a fitted strapless bodice and fuH skirt draped with matching silk organza flchu and front sashes. She wore a wide matching hat and carried a nosegay of blue, pink, yellow and white carnations. Bridesmaids were Miss Myrdith Owens, Asheville, and Miss Mar garet Battle, cousin of the groom, Madison, Florida.
