Not that they liked Richmond, Va., less, where Dr Proctor had served at Virginia Union University as teacher, dean, P^'csident and president since IMC, out to oach oiTtKem, Greens- bC-'o is a new challenging and thrilling experience. The boys were the fir^t to take a real “shlce” to the city. While Dr. Proctor was considering the invitation to come to A&T this npring, the whole family slipped into town to see Greensboro and tlTc’ coTIege. When '"Herbie" ainf “Tim” saw the full-sized jet air craft alongside the ROTO head quarters building, that was the “clincher" for them. They had nev- or been that close to a real jet before. Mrs. Proctor was equMly im pressed with the cleanliness of the city and the genuine friendliness of its people. Its police officers were courteous and helpful in giv ing directions and aS| she put it, “everybody apeared happy." It was nof long afte^, that Dr, Proctor accepted the A&T assign ment. When the news broke, the Proc tors then learned more about the friendly attitude of the people in this city.
