Y’oung Cooper, who graduated near the top of his class at Henderson, was notified of his acwptance by USC president Dr! Norman Topping. Cooper completed his high school work at Henderson with 3.75 average. A perfect re cord Is 4. Topping’s letter notifying Cooper of his acceptance point ed out that Cooper was one of the few enrolling students who had posted such a high scholastic record. Pearson Honors Top Scholars The annual Awards Day pro gram at Pearson Elementary School was held May 29-30 in the school aduitdrium for the primary and grahimar grade punils respectively. The Alaska Montgomery Pearson Awards were given to the pupils ranking highest scholastically in grades one through six. The recipients were Wilbert Hhrrington, Horace Dawson. Reuben Rivers. Treaver Ber- daux, and Dearia Ratliff. In thf sixth grade. Dwight Green and Carlton McNair tied for this honor. The R. N. Harris Citizenship Awards were given to the best citizens in grades four, five and six. They were Harry Lee Davis. Karen Scott, and Carlton Mc Nair.
