nominated at press time Thursday
for the Second Annual Ministers
Vacation Popularity Contest of the
Carolina Times. With one more
^eck to go before the actual vot-
ins begins on March 16 all indi
cations are that by that time some

which is a free airplane round
trip to the Holy Land with stop
overs in Rome, Jerusalem and

Kills Woman In

FAYETTEVILLE — A ve
teran school teacher and moiher
of a college student was shot
and killed here last week, re
portedly by her husband’s
cousin.
The victim was Mrs. L^ona
S. Jackson. 48. who died at her
home Thursday night of shot
gun wounds.
Investigators of the tragedy
reported that the wounds were
inflicted by Bertram Evarts, 40.
a painter and cousin to the
dead woman’s husband.
Police reports quoted ths as
sailant as stating that the shoot
ing followed a drinking and an
.argument between him and
Mrs. Jackson.
