MAPLE PECAN FHEEZE
(Makef 8 servings)

New Collier Home

A compact brick home in Cam
pus Hills, near North CaroUna
College has been completed. Built
by Collier Construction Co. from
a Standard Home Company floor-
plan, it has three beditwms, liv
ing room, kitchen and dining area
and one bath.
Hiis is a home built for effi
ciency. The kitchen has the right
amount of space to get tedious
chores done in a hurry.
The formica counter tops will
withstand grapejuice stains when
the kids tip over a glass as well
as resist marring from use. A
damp cloth will wipe it clean and
the gold flecks will shine again.
Adding a warm glow to this
sunny yellow kitchen is a copper
toned sink as well as drawer pulls
on the cabinet.
This copper finish is carried
out with a hood over the built-in
gas range.
This home is one of the homes
being built now by Collier Con
struction. This company was or
ganized in 1959. A development
“Campus Hills” was begun near
North Carolina College in South
Alston Avenue.
These homes, like the one ex
hibited in the Parade of Homes,
feature three bedrooms, built-in
oven and range, carport, storage
areas and a choice of natural gas
or electric heat.

dren subject to home acciduits,
but children's carelessness is a
major hazard to other members
of the family.
Here are a few safety habits
for children;
1. Teach children to walk,
never run in the house. Insist
that children keep shoes on.
Stocking feet offer no resistance
to slippery floors.
2. Provide mats oulsWe the

mud or sticky substances track

3. Children's toys left careless
ly on the floor are a danger to

Insist that toys be picked up and

but several toy boxes in various
parts of the house,
4. When chiUren spill things,
train them to wipe up grease,
spilled milk or water, fruit peel
ings immediately. Provide a roll
of Kleenex paper towels, installed
at child-height on a wall or cabi
net in' the kitchen for prompt

5. If a child breaks any glass
object, train him to tell you
about it immediately and not to
touch it himself. Picking up
jagged pieces of glass is a job
for adults only and which re
quires extreme care. Use sev
