With Picnic
Mrs. Ludmila Van Sombeek,
1903 Essex Road, had a gather
ing of friends from Duke, N.
C, College and Durham at an
enjoyable lawn picnic at her
home. Among the guests were
visitors from the far East and
Czechoslovakia. There were
games for grownups and chil
dren. While eating together,
idea* and experiences were
shared and hope was expressed
for a better future not only for
this country but for the -whole
world.
G. Hardin, who also has
traveled extensively, read a
fine paper on the topic "Can
Human Nature Change?" It
stimulated our thinking and
aroused our feelings with sym
pathy for suffering humanity
due to neglect and misdirected
efforts. It was mentiond that
the sound baoia for creative de
velopment lies first of all with
the individual human being.
The following passages from
Baha'i literature were quoted:
"The essence of faith is few
ness of -words and abundance
of deeds; he whose words ex
ceed his deeds, know verily his
death is better than his life."
'Tellowship is the cause of
unity and unity is the source
of order In the world."
