The Rev. Dr. Charles Ward, pastor of the First Baptist Church, performed the ceremony. l%e bride is the daughter of Mrs. Loretta J. Rives of Dur ham and the late S. C. Walker of Orange County. Hie bridegroom'* parent* are the late Mr. and Mrs. Almo Nathaniel McCoy of Wake County. Mrs. McCoy is a graduate of l Winston-Salem State College Caiohna and now living with her daughter. Mrs. L. Z. Wil liams at 2311 Red Oak Avenue, were honored at a dinner held in the college dining room. They were presented plaques and gifts during the program. and North Carolina College at Durham. She is a member of the Beta Pi Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority and has been em ployed in the Merrick-Moore School as librarian for several years. Mr. McCoy, an alumnus of the Agricultural and Technical College of North Carolina Car olina at Greensboro is em ployed in Reidsville as an Agri cultural Teacher. He is a mem ber of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. The couple will be at home in Beidsville after June 11, 1967 celebrated her 861!) birthday recently. May 29 at the home of Mrs. Lossie Foushee, 1114 Cornell St. The Garden Gate was opened with the sing ing of the club song. Scripture and prayer was by Mrs. Helen McClain. Mangum St. 9 ALICE LAVERNE SHARPE MISS Alice Laverne Sharpe is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. A Sharpe of 2505 Janet St. S.ie is an honor student in the graduating class at Hillside High School. Alice is also a member of the National Hon ■ir Society, the Science Club, Healht Carrers Club, Mu Alpha Theta and is the reporter for the Senior Class. She will be listed in the 1966-67 Edition of "Who's Who Amon; Student Leaders in High Schools of America." .Mice received an award re cently for having the highest average in English in the grad uating class. During the past school year, she attended the Durham City and County eve ning science seminar which was held at Duke University. For the past two summers, =he participated in the More house-Spelman Intensified Pre- College Program. Alice re ceived scholarships to Howard University and Spelman Col lege but she plans to enter Duke University in September. She wants to be a physical therapist and hopes to receive a degree in this field. She is a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and treas urer of the United Presbyteri an Youth Group. Her hobbies are: reading, sewing, writing prose. After the opening of the Garden Gate, a brief business session was held. On the agenda for discussion were the planting of flowers and shrubbery on the playground at the West Durham Baptist Church, the election of officers for the year and the annual worship service of the garden clubs of the city which was held at Mt. Olive AME Zion Church on Sunday, May 28. At the close of the meeting, Mrs. Gunn served a delicious salad course, candy and pea nuts to the following members: Mesdames Lula Earle, Ger tiude Gibson, Margaret Fuller, Naomi Parker, Mary Allison, Beatrice Spencer. MOORE Mrs. Helen B. Harrington Weds Robert Edward Moore in Phila. The Mount Airy Presbyterian Church, Germantown and Mt. Pleasant Avenues, Philadelphia was the setting Saturday after noon, June 3, for the marriage of Mrs. Helen Boulware Her rington to Mr. Robert Edward Moore. The Rev. G. Graham Smith, pastor of the church, officiated at the one o'clock ceremony. He was assisted by the Reverend Doctor Howard W. Givens of Charlotte, North Carolina. Music for the cere mony was furnished by Mrs. Mary Louise Herrick, church organist. The bride, daughter ■of Dr. and Mrs. C. Elwood Boulware of Durham, was giv en in marriage by her father. The bridegroom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Gabe Buckman of Orangeburg, S. C. The bride wore a floor length gown of ice blue point d'esprit .over linen designed with an A line silhouette. The bodice was fashioned with a jewel neckline and long sleeves. Her shoulder length veil of ice* blue "illusion was attached to a rosette of organdy and seed pearls. Her shoes were tinted blue to match the gown. She carried a cascade of white carnations centered with an orchid. The bride's only attendant was her cousin, Mrs. Lois G. Green of Charlotte. She wore a street length dress of pale pink j/ organza over taffeta fashioned with an A-line sheath and car ried an arm bouquet of pink spring flowers. Mr. Earl M. Moore, Jr., brother of the bride groom, served as best man. Ushers included Messrs. Leo nard L. Moore, brother of the groom, Wortham R. F. Basker ville, and Stanley O. Dunn of Philadelphia and Kirkland W. Green of Orlando, Fla. A re ception was held immediately following the ceremony in the Fellowship Room of the church. Mesdames L. G. Baskerville, Ann H. Barrick and Miss Ar netha N. Williams of Philadel phia served as hostesses. Music during the reception was fur nished by Mrs. Ann S. Clark.
