Stith, young Durham educator and businessman. Mr. Stith became president of the college when it was organized in 1956 and has has continued in the position to the present. Under his vigorous leadership, Southeastern Business College has developed into one of the leading business college's in the area. A native of Rocky Mount, Mr. Stith has lived all of his adult life in Durham. Coming to Durham in 1947 he grad uated from North Carolina College in 1951. Alter serving a stin! in the U.S. Army, including overseas duty in Cermany, Mr. Stith returned to Durham to attend law school at NCC. In 1956 Stith began the work which has been his continuing interest, providing post high school business education for Negroes in the Southeastern region of the United States. 'Showing a continued interest in civic affairs, David W. Stith campaigned fur Durham City Council in 1965. He i presently a member of the Durham Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Stith is married to the former Lorraine Jones of Ahoskie. The Stiths have two children, Karen, age 6. and Thom as, 111, age 4. They reside at 2508 Janet Street.
