Carl Fuller Stars Siqnee LOS ANGELES— The Los Angeles Stars of the American Basketball Asso ciation announced they had signed a pair of second round draft choices. The signing of Ed Leggett, •-3, from Rocky Mountain College, and Carl Fuller, 6-9 from Bethune-Cookman Col lege, meant that seven of the team's first nine draft choices have inked pacts with the club. Fuller, a native of St. Au gustine, Fla., was an All- Conference selection in each of his three varsity seasons and set a school rebounding record with 579 in his sopho more year. Leggett, who hail» from St. Petersburg, Fla., aver aged 25.6 points per game last season and was named to the NAIA honorable men tion basketball team. The award presentation will be made at a late-evening re ception at the Pick-Congress Hotel following a CIC Benefit, "An Evening with Belafonte" at the Auditorium Theater. All CIC benefit ticket-holders are invited to attend the spec ial reception. THE AWARD, which in cludes a quotation from the late Dr. Martin Luther Kmg, Jr., will be presented to Mr. Belafonte by Paul Q. TWine, Sr., CIC President, and the benefit co-chairmen, Bill Lowry (of WBBM-TV's "Op portunity Line") and Barbara O'Connor. "Mr. Belafonte has never let his show business success divert him from a real con cern for racial justice and the problems of his less fortunate brothers," said John A. Mc- Dermott, CIC Executive di rector, in commenting on the announcement of the award. THE AWARD was designed by Chicago-area artist Ann Grill, a member of the Cath olic Interracial Council.
