Decorating Idea Home Heating Systems Match Decor ' 4 4»*"" • H From an interior decorator's viewpoint, the best heating system is an invisible one. At second best, he hopes for an inconspicuous one. Most decorators suggest that with just a little planning early in remodeling or new construction, unsightly radiators and wail registers can be eliminated. 3M Company heating specialist Richard Reitz confirms that radiators can be hidden with covers which are functional as well as attractive. Baseboard beaters are less noticeable when furni ture is positioned in a way which blocks them from view but does not impair their performance. Forced air outlets can be painted to match the walls and indirect lighting mn be iiwflUH to emphasize other areas in the room. If the bouse is to be heated electrically, a new electric radiant heating panel product ia available for installation directly in ceilings, flush with standard ceiling materials. Pknels are thermo statically controlled to heat objects in the room when the room's temperature falls below a prescribed leveL Since panels are overhead and can be painted to match the ceilinp, they are seldom noticed. This also frees floor space and permits greater flexibility for furniture and drapery placement A combination of ceiling and baseboard units can also be in stalled to increase design and decorating flexibility.
