Driver said today. These employees constitute about 8.4 per cent of the VA's full-time work force. Sharing their special interest in NEPH week, sponsored by the President's Committee on Employment of the handicap ped, will be nearly 500 mental ly retarded persons employed by the VA, Driver said. He noted that rince the Federal program of hldng the mentally retarded began, the VA has made almost one-tenth of all appointments by the 40 agencies participating in the program. A person may also enroll the month he reaches 65 and during the 3 following problems especially as they re late to the Black communities of the cities. PINE GROVE THIRD DISTRICT HOLDS MEET The regular meeting of the Pine Grove Third District met Sunday at the home of Mr. and lire. Battle Olando Hick, 1472 Maplewood Drive. Hie meeting was presided over by Mrs. Emily Cogwell, the vi«e presi dent. After a brief devotion, Mrs. Nlpa Amey presented the par ticipant for the day. The next meeting will b» held at the home oi Mrs. Irene Mitchell, 1120 Hanover St. Covenant United Presbyteri an Church, U.S.A., corner of Lincoln and Massey Streets, will dedicate its new sanctuary and newly renovated education building on Sunday, October 20, at 3 p.m. The history of the church extends to 1800 when Reverend Mr. L. D. Twine met with a small group in a hall at the corner of Fayetteville Street and Ray Place. In 1888 at the corner of Pine and Poplar Sts., Reverend Twine organised the Pine St. Presbyterian Church. The name was changed in 1824 to Twine Memorial. From 1924-1946, the Reve rends I. H. Russell, J. Lee White, George Avant, W. T. Nelson, and C. A Keans served respectively as pastors of the church. Under the leadership of Rev. Mr. James A. Cannon, who was installed as pastor in 1949, the church was relocated at Its present site. T. Torre nee held their monthly meeting, Sunday, Oc- 0 at the home of Eric Harry, 408 Fowler Avenue. The Young Knights of Dan iel sponsored the meeting. After the opening song, "Sweet Hour of Prayer" scripture was read by Robert Page and pray-, er offered by Mrs. A. T. Tor re nee. The lesson, "Life with Direction" was thoroughly dis cussed by all present with ad. ditional comments by Mrs. Mar garet Holman, missionary and grandmother of the host. A report of Missionary acti vities and collection of dues were followed by a report of activities for the year by Ells worth Tait.
