Carr In Full
Swing
By JANICE DIXON AND
RANDY RAY
Carr Junior High has really
gotten into full swing for the
school year. The football team
finished the year with only two
losses. The basketball team
predicts even greater success.
Carr's first game of the basket
ball season is against Martin
Junior High of Raleigh.
Not long ago the Student
Council officers were elected
for (he school year. Chosen for
president was Theodore Ash
ford and Ricky Weaver was
elected as vice-president.
Carr's Civics classes played
quite an important part in the
sociological activities of the
community. Directing these
classes is teacher Lawrence
Thompson. Randy Ray, Steve
Paschal. Kenneth Redding and
Calvin Norman, four of the bet
ter ninth grade students of
Carr. were sent for a day, to
i the Citv Hall to visit and learn
about the government of our
citv. AfU-r their visit, they
spoke to the classes, telling
about their experiences.
Or, November 14, Carr had
it's first sock-hop. Over two
hundred people were there,
making it a big event.
The Carr Chorus has also
given it's first performance.
The chorus is directed by Mrs.
Vivian Thorpe.
This year at Carr promises
to be very exciting. There is
cooperation between fellow stu
dents and 1 the faculty. The
faculties primary goal is to
meet the needs of the students
on their individual level.
