QUANTITY ■ Council and Accepted Scottish Rite, Southern Jurisdiction, Prince HaII Affiliation, that the 84th annual Marion of the organization would be held in Washington, D. C. October 10 to 18 at the Hotel Shoreham. Meeting will be all active members, officers, and honor ay members whoee class Numerals end in "0, 1 or 2." The Southern Jurisdiction covers all the area below the mythical Mason-Dixon Line and includes more than 200,000 Prince Hall Masons. All ssasions will be held in the Shoreham excepting the annual Divine or Memorial Service which will be held in the Shiloh Baptist Church. Features of the session will be the elevation of 32nd. de pee Prince Hall Masons to the 33rd. and last degree, the an nual Cathedral Fund Banquet, recognition and honoring of the Deputy of the Year, awarding of the Distinguished Service medal and the Gold Medal Achievement Award. Reports will be given on the various Masonic and Busi ness aspects of the organiza tion, and the multi-million dollar houaing project for low rent and rent supplement pro jects sponsored by the organi zation in various parts of the jurisdiction. Over 300 have sent in re servations for attendance and another 100 are expected to attend. The local chairman is Henry A. Next year things will be different. The Tax Reform Act of 1969 provides the following filing requirements for indivi duals: L A single person (not self employed) whose income in 1970 waa less than SI7OO is not required to file a Federal Tax Return. 2. School GREENSBORO - A fkiw able ruling of tax exemption hat been panted by Internal Revenue in Greenaboro. The ruling waa laaued under the atatement of poaMon an nounced by the taternal Re venue Sendee on July 10 con cerning the tax emempt atatua of private achoola. In that atatement the Internal Reve nue Service concluded that it would no longer legally juetify allowing exempt atatua to pri vate achoola which practice racial diaotlmination. Nor can it aDow gifta to auch achoola to be treated aa charitable de duct iona for income tax pur poaea. Gifta made prior to an adverae ruling, however, would be deductible. Mr. Wall added that the July 10 atatement does not effect a achool'a ordinary admiaaiona policies which have no relation to race. Wall stressed that the IRS maintalna a vigorous program of auditing tax exempt or gs nizationa. Examination of private achoola will take into account complaints from the public or information from other sources that would indi cate non-compliance, together with assurances made by the schools to the IRS. If an exa mination indicated that a school has not administered ita nondiscriminatory admiaaiona policy in good faith, the tax exempt atatua of the school will be challenged. The Greenaboro Indepen dent School haa had ita racially nondiscriminatory admiaaiona policies publicized in numer ous local newspaper stories aa well as in a brochure issued by the school. Alexander to Head Black Political Fund WASHINGTON, D. C, - Clifford Almndg, Jr.,—a_ former White Houae tide to both Presidents John Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson, has agreed to serve as coordinator for the establishment of a na tional nonpartisan Black poli tical fund. According to Alexander, the fund would be used for: .financing massive voter re gistration and politican edu cation campaigns in Black communities * throughout the country; .providing financial assis tance for Black candidates of both parties; .developing a national or ganization to turn out the Black vote on election day; .establishing Black lobby ing groups at every level of government to train Blacks ( in practical campaign work; .developing a national re* search and literature center. The idea for a national non partisan Black political "war chest" was suggested and out lines by Louis Martin at the National Urban League con vention In New York City in July. Martin, a board member of the National Urban League, Is vice president of Sengstacke Publications of Chicago. For eight years, beginning in 1960, Martin was the top Black political advisor to Pre sidents Kennedy and Johnson, while serving as Vice Chakman of the Democratic National Committee.
