Vernon Baptist Church celebrated its Annual after-Christmas Party Friday night, January 10, at 7:00 p.m. at the Y.W.C.A. on Umstead Street. The guests were welcomed by Mrs. Louise Pearce. The blessing was given by Bro. King Brown. A very delicious roast beef dinner was then served. After dinner, games were; placed " and - gifts were' exchanged. Remarks by the President-Mrs. Josephine Brown. Members attending were Mr. and Mrs. King Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Langley, Mesdames, Louise Pearce, Elnora Arrington, Loal Clark, Luetta Sims, Mary Avent, Veave Faulk, Gladys Sneed, Bailey, Joseph Nuchurch. Joyc Completes First Semester Work With Honors SALISBURY Miss Joye Lorraine Mies, 22 year-old daughter of Mr. Hugh W. Miles and the late Mable Miles or Yancey ville, completed her undergraduate work with honors the first semester at Livingstone College at Salisbury. A 1971 graduate of Bartlett Yancey Senior High School, Miss Miles will receive the bacehlor of arts degree in elementary education during the 93rd Commencement Exercises at Livingstone May 20,1975. Having just completed a ten-week tour of cadet! teaching at Carrol T. Overton School at Salisbury Miss Miles, was asked about her Prof. Attends Seminar In Egypt ii Dr. Sammy Elaasar, Associate Professor of Business at Winston-Salem State University returned to campus today following a three-week trip to Cairco, Egypt. While in Cairo Dr. Elaasar attended the International Economic Policies Conference Dec. 27 -Dec. 31 where he presided as chairman of the Economic Planning Division.
