October 25, at half-time of the football game between Fisk College and Morehouse College. The traditionally all-male Morehouse College Maroon Tiger Marching band, under the direction of Dr. W. T. McDantel became co-ed with the addition of fourteen "lady instrumentalists" from Spelman College. Dr. McDanieL Chairman of the Music Department at Morehouse stated that "majorettes from Spelman j College were added to the band in the fall of 1971. but it wasi not until this year that we were able to gain the services of ladies as instrumentalists. There was some, difficulty in the past In clearing the rights of Spelman students to participate In the Morehouse band, but now the situation has been cleared by the administrators of both colleges.' . Dr. Hugh M. Gloster, President of Morehouse College state that "Morehouse and Spelman art two of the most closely associated predominantly .black colleges in the country, and they have an . excellent record of Interinttltutionaf co-operation.
