Florida Is the world's
greatest grower of fall,
winter and late spring sweet
com; that's where the fresh
com-on-the-cob is coming
from at this time.
Fresh sweet corn is one
of the most convenient of
foods: just husk it and boil
3 to 6 minutes.
Serve promptly with a gen
erous pat of butter or mar
garine. If you prefer season
ed butter, add Vi teaspoon
curry powder, chili powder
or oregano to softened
butter.
Or make a corn spread by
blending V cup mayonnaise
and !4 cup sour cream and
seasoning the blend with 2
tablespoons minced fresh
chives or onion. Another
good spread: Melt V cup
butter or margarine and add
V cup finely grated Cheddar
cheese and 1 tablespoon
minced pimiento. Pass this
at table with a platter of
steaming ears.
Florida Corn, Country
Style is delicious. Saute Vh
cups green onions or scal
lions in 3 tablespoons bacon
fat or butter. Add 3 cups,
fresh corn cut off the cob
and cook with the onions
over low ,heat, 10 to 15
minutes. Stir in V cup half
and half, salt and pepper to
taste and Yi teaspoon sugar.

RALEIGH - Beginning
January, brochures
explaining the need for
human tissue for
transplantation and how a
person can become an
"organ donor" in the
event of death will be
mailed to an estimated
70,000 licensed drivers
each month over the next

The brochure will

He said the sticker will
serve as advanced notice to

donating tissue for
transplantation after
death.
The brochure concept
was first proposed by the
Kidney Foundation of
North Carolina, N. C. Eye
and Human Tissue Bank
and the UNC Medical
School's Department of
Anatomy to simplify the

donation.
The Division of Health
Service, who administers
the state's kidney

for purchasing the
brochures and worked out
a, program of distribution
involving drivers licenses
renewals with the
Department of Motor
