4 THE CAROLINA TIMES SAT., JANUARY 24. 187 Hiss; aux. sponsors m AliliUAL ORPHANAGE DAY On Sunday, Jan. 18, the New Home and Durham Missionary Auxiliary Sponsored their third successful annual Central Orphanage Day at the convention home on Guess Road. The entire program featured the children of the orphanage with J. D. Drumwright, asst. superintendent presiding. The program consisted of an enjoyable concert by the choir of the orphanage, directed by Robert E. Howell. The speaker for the occasion was Rev. Neriah Goldston, the orphanage minister and a second year divinity student at Duke. The subject was 4 Time' The climax of the program was the presentation of $1,405.09 to the orphanage by Mrs. B. L. Dunnegan, president of the New Home and Durham Missionary Auxiliary. Refreshments were served in the fellowship hall. The committee of Central Orphanage Day STORE HOURS wishes to thank the New Home and Durham Missionary Baptist Association, all of its' auxiliaries, churches, and other organizations, and individuals .who helped to make this a memorable day. Mrs. John Lob Hosts Club On Sunday, January 18, the Lamp Lighters Club of the Hayes Town Community held its annual monthly meeting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Lee. The worship chairman, Mrs. Mary Perry opened the meeting. The president, Mrs. Annie Daye discussed present business. Various reports were made. Maria Cuttino was elected to be the publicity chairman. Names for Secret Pals were drawn. Mrs. Lee served delicious refreshments. The hostess was thanked by Mrs. Alma Mitchell. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Maria .. ! Mrs. Willie Sneed was hostess. The Council met at the home of Mrs. Sneed, Saturday morning. The meeting opened with a veiy spiritual devotion led b Mrs. Sally Graham, with all members expressing a desire to be true witnesses for Christ. The president Mrs. Sneed presided. Miss Lyda Vanhook read the minutes of the last meeting. Mrs. Eric Norris, Mrs. Minnie Lyon and Mrs. Lillie Lyon, and Mrs. Annie Crews gave verbal contributions on the training of children on using the Bible. Many members attended the Mid Winter Conference in ANNOUNCES BIRTH Dr. and Mrs. Michael R. Geer announce the birth of a son, Michael R. Geer II on Jan. 11 at Duke Hospital. The Geers reside at 1935 Southwood Drive. Mrs. Geer is the former Lana Letita McClary of Durham. Raleigh, held at the Raleigh Auditorium. Mrs. Sneed, Mrs. - Brown and Mrs. Rigsbee served a delightful brunch. THREE GENERATIONS GET TOGETHER Mrs. Esther B. Parker, of 2505 Roanoke St.; Durham, spent her birthday last weekend with her daughter and granddaughter, Mrs. Sharon Yancey and Sheri Yancey, of Baltimore, Maryland. They had lunch in the Friendly Restaurant in Holshuire Mall. DURHAM NATIVE MAKES DEAN'S LIST AT NCCU Roselyn Yvonne Trice, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Roy Trice, Jr., and the foster daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Moore, Jr.. of 910 Lawson St.. Durham, has been named to the dean's list at North Carolina Central University four times in the past f6ur years. Roselyn is looking forward to graduation in June. Hostess were Mrs. Lena Thompson and Mrs. Dazel Stevens.. Mrs. Helen McNeil opened the meeting with devotions. The minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted.
