CLARA LAWSON.third from left, was installed recently at the F. H. A. Area Supervisor of the Third District. The ceremony took place in Charlotte, where President Gerald Ford was guest speaker. Mrs. Lawson is one of the Home Economics teachers at Hillside High School. Neighborhood Center Director To Be Honored Friday, April 2 t Kathryn R. Tyler, executive director of Glenville Neighborhood Center, Inc., will be honored for nearly 27 years of service and leadership at a testimonial dinner to be held Friday evening, April 2. This gala event will be held at the new Bond Court Hotel in downtown Cleveland, is open to the public. Many community and government leaders are expected to attend. The featured speaker is Dr. Kelly Miller Smith, assistant dean, Vanderbilt Divinity School, and Pastor, First Baptist Church, Nashville, Tennessee. This dinner has been planned by a committee of persons from throughout the Greater Cleveland area. Heading the committee are: Victor Gelb, general chairperson; Mrs. George N. Taylor, chairperson; Mrs. Lethia Warren, secretary; and James Strode, finance chairperson. Honorary chairperson is Rev. Isiah P. Pogue, Jr. In 1949 the Glenville Neighborhood and Community Center was created to serve the youth, adults and older persons of the Glenville community. Chosen to head that new agency was Kathryn Richardson Tyler, born in Dawson, Georgia, graduate of Knoxville College, Atlanta University and the School of Applied Social Sciences, Case-Western Reserve University. Since that time the Neighborhood Center has grown from a store front central office to a magnificent modern Center located at 900 East 105th Street. Originally jointly sponsored by the City of Cleveland, the Cleveland Board of Education and the Neighborhood Settlement Association, this agency is now a member of the Greater Cleveland Neighborhood Centers Association, Federation For Community Planning and part of the United Torch Services. Over the years the Center COLU MISSIONARIES SPONSOR PROGRAM Rev. W. E. Daye, pastor of Peace Missionary Baptist Church, along with his ushers, congregation and choirs will be at the Mt. Level Baptist Church on Jim Lyons Road, Sunday, March 28 at 6 p.m. This program is sponsored by the Missionary Circle (annual program). Theme is taken from "Reach Out and Touch.' The garden gate .was opened by devotion, and the business session was presided over by the president, Mrs. Roxie Barnes. After the meeting was adjourned, Mrs.Powcll invited a group of friends in to meet the members of the garden club and to enjoy an evening of fun and fellowship.
