Pearson Elementary School S u n day were highlighted by a short history of the school and the late W. G. Pearson by Mrs. C. C. Spaulding Jr., who represented the family at the affair. John Howard, principal of Pearson, presided at the program in the auditorium and introduced the many dignita ries and honored guests who attended. The Reverend W. E. Daye, pastor of Peace Missionary Baptist Church delivered the invocation, which was followed by the song "All Night, All Day", by the W. G. Pearson School Chorus and Instrumen tal Ensemble under the direction of Mrs. Reglyn Williams. Greetings were offered by the Honorable Wade L. Cavin, mayor of Durham, Mrs. A. T. Spaulding Sr., member of the Durham County Commission. Dr. Theodore R. Speigner, chairman of the Durham City Boatd of Education, addressed the audience, as did Lew W. Hannen, retired superintendent of city schools, Dr. Ben T. Brooks, superintendent of Durham City Schools, Dr. Frank B. Weaver, assistant superintendent of city schools, G. Frank Burnett, retired Pearson prinicipal, and James Richmond, president of the Pearson School PTA. Special guests recognized were Mrs. Josephine D. Cle ment, member of the Durham City Bdard of Education, William Bell, member of the Durham County Board of Commissioners, retired teachers, former students and members of the community. Relatives of the late W. G. Pearson were called on to stand and received a warm ovation from the assemblage. Following the Benediction by Rev. Daye, all were invited for a tour of the new media center, which Howard empha sized was placed to accommo date the community as well as the school's student body. Refreshments were served in the school's new cafeteria, which had been decorated with art work done by the students at Pearson School. On May 2, Rho Chapter of Iota Phi Lambda Soror ity was indeed happy to have as special guest for the be ginning of Sisterhood Week Soror Pricilla Thomas of Savannah, Ga., Southern Regional Director of the Sorority. ' Soror - Thomas was " houseguest of " Soror Otelia Stewart. Sunday morning,, found the Sorors worshipping at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church on Dowd Street. The warm welcome and fellowship with the membership was truly great. The worship hour was most impressive. The singing was soul searching and then the partaking of Holy Com munion was uplifting and sustaining. Rev. Mosely was eloquent in the delivery of his topic, "Jesus said, Think of Me, This is My Body andBlood". ' , AJter ,.1- service r, Sorors gathered at the home of Soror Lorraine Weaver, Pres ident of Rho Chapter, for a Sisterhood Breakfast, and to listen to Soror Thomas talk about Iota. The members of the Raleigh Graduate Chapter Upsilon and undergraduate Delta Nu, came in after their church services for coffee and a chat with Soror Thomas. Enjoying the Sisterhood occasion were Sorors Lor raine Weaver, Otelia Stewart, Bernice Ingram, Vivian Gates, Julia Henderson, Ruth Bold en, Geneva Mebane, Omeda Livingston, Barbara Avaritr Helen Chavious, Mary Clay, Eula Harris, Evelyn Thorpe, Gayzella Lipscomb, Ruby Bolden, Mary Pamplin, Margaret Coleman, Helen Rempson, Mabel Butler, Barbara Minor, Laura Bruce, Plassie Harris, Lucille .
