Page of 123 Masondale Avenue, Durham, has been named the winner of a National Achievement $1000 Scholarship - a nonrenewable award of $1,000 which she will receive next fall after enrolling in college. She joins a total of about 535 black students receiving awards in the Twelfth Annual Achieve ment Program. Miss Page is editor-in-. chief of the school newspapet( of Hillside High School, co chairperson of the Human , Relations Committee and Senior Class treasurer. She attended the 1975 North Carolina Governor's School and the 1975 North Carolina Girls' State. Miss Page is a member of the National Honor Society and received the Daughters of the Ameri can Revolution Good Citizenship Award. Miss Page was chosen from among the black stu dents in her geographic region who qualified as Finalists in this year's competition. All winners of National Achievement $1000 Scholarships were chosen by a committee of professionals in the field of college admissions and coun seling. WOMEN'S DAY HELD The annual Women's Day was observed at the Red Mountain Baptist Church in Rougemont, Sunday May 16 at 11 a.m. The theme was "Reach Out and Touch." The guest speaker was Mrs. Mozelle Harvey, wife of the pastor, Rev. Nealie Harvey. Her message was very good, she challenged "it's reaching out time; we need Jesus, He is the one we can touch, He can touch our lives and make everything alright." Music was rendered by the Senior Ladies of Senior Choir under the supervision of Mrs. Violet Rogers, or ganist, and the senior ladies ushered.Flowers were given to the family of the late Lucious Glenn. Mrs. Artelia M. Jones chairman, presided over the service. Scripture was read by Mrs. C. Parker, prayer by Mrs. Catherine Parker, off ertory prayer, Mrs. Julia Harris, Mrs. Zora Jones gave the welcome and in troduced the speaker. He also is a former president of Brooklyn's Paragon Pro gressive Community Associa tion, member of the Paragon Federal Credit Union's Board of Directors, Alpha Phi Alpha and treasurer of Alabama State University's Alumni Association.
