C.- Art Commission, will be dis played in various museum ex- " hibitions during 1977. - ? 1 " v A ' major' gift of. African ' art was donated to the museum by the Bronson family of ' California. Lee Branson, his' wife Dona arx' his brother Robert gave the museum 38 pieces from Nigeria and the Cong o River Basin. ' ; The objects include masks, fetishes, instruments, 'and symbols of tribal royalty made of wood, . fiber, hide,' feathers or ivory. A signifi cant addition to the museum's graving j collection of the ethnographic art ;qf various, continents, the ' objects repre sent the Bakuba, Hemba, Basonge, Dengese, Bajokwe, Bayaka, " Basuku, Bapenda, Mende, Balege, Dan: and Yoru ba tribes. ':' Concert Date Changed For Durham Chamber Group The Durham Chamber Palyers will open the Raleigh portion of their concert, series on Wed. January 26 at 8:15 pjn. at Peace College Audi torium. This, is a change from the earlier , date of January 23. The program will feature the Mozart Clarinet Trio and the Brahms Piano Quintet. The Mozart will feature Donald Martin, Clarinet; Chris tine Martin, Viola; and John Ruggero, Piano; Mr. and Mrs. Martin are members of the North Carolina Symphony and Ruggero is a member of the faculty at Duke University. After intermission, the Brahms Pinao Quintet, will feature Ruggero and the Haydn String Quartet. The members of the Quartet are Michael Ma, Violin; tSuzanne Kelly, Violin; Christine Martin, Viola;. and Dorothy Gilmore, Cello. This, is a significant event in Raleigh musical circles as it signifies the opening of a new large concert series performed by members of the North Caro lina Symphony. Upcoming concerts will feature performances of Beethoven Quartet Op. 74 by the Gomag String Quartet, Bach Kantata 51 performed by members of the N. C. Sym phony and Melinda Lieberman. Blue hails from Jersey City, N.J. and Sonny Bivins is from Macon, Ga.; They have a lot of exciting plans for the future which will take them to perform in President-elect Jimmy Carter' s inauguration and a three-month tour of Europe. While in Europe they will be working in a new movie which will focus ona travelling love story.
